COLONIALISM, AGBERO OVER COMMERCIAL BUS DRIVERS
Are we under the colonial masters? Was the question, that pop up boldly in my mind witnessing the brutal act of injustice melted out on a commercial bus conductor at the popular Ikorodu roundabout garage/park. The garage boys popularly call "Agbero" who was said to had just resume afternoon duty to collect booking money from the Lagos colour commercial buses, in the quest to make enough money and even out run what his colleague that handed him the batting had remitted. He summoned all his strength into action, became aggressive with conductors, he refuse to take a no for an answer, "you must drop something was his preferred slogan", within the hour, he was already counting thousands, so he increase his tempo with whisky of the brand named Yahoo and crown it with two sticks of cigarette. His eye became like a pool of blood, voice turned bass and louder and ready to give the job a good shot. His victim arrived the scene, ketu! Ketu!, the conductor calling passengers, (ketu! Two more chance) on hearing that, the iron man, (Agbero) swings into action approached the conductor, Owo mi da? ( where is my money), the conductor replied, this is my first trip i don’t have any money now But on my second trip i will pay you. The response wasn't good enough for the Agbero hearing, i will give you jabs o! (agbero) The conductor pleaded, please be patients till my next trip. the next thing was blood gushing down the conductors mouth after three hard punches and two of his teeth flew into the air. Trust Lagosians, people gathered immediately expecting more actions of the unpleasant scene hoped to get a good picture of the part two. Other area boys stormed the scene took the iron man and the conductor to the inner chamber to meet their chairman for settlement.
Then i ask myself after a short silence, what is our environment turning into? What was brought to play during the Colonial masters, our parent pay taxes by force after all sought of maltreatment is still ruminating in the blood of some Nigerians. Two teeth lost for nothing, what an injustice. What is our government doing concerning this social menace.
How long would the act continue? Is their activities legal? Should agency be set up to cater for drivers and conductors? Or better still scrap Agbero, what is your take on this?

AjAGUN GBALE

               AJAGUNGBALE AND RESIDENTS

Owing to the tip off from the popular social network, Facebook, the post flashes the Heading "Blood bath pool in Ajarogun community" as Nigeria gladiators (area boys) popularly known as "Ajagun gbale" swings into action in the early hours of the day, threatened the peace of the community that both Landlords and tenants should and must vacate Ajarogun and its environs. On Thursday the13th of June, 2013. As narrated by one of the inhabitants of Ajarogun community, who wish to remain anonymous, in her state of panic and jittery with sober emotion on her face and shaky voice, took her time to narrate the ordeal. In the morning, the area boys (Ajagun gbale) took their heels through the community in groups, talking on loudest volume of their voice that everybody is advised to vacate the community before 11am or face the consequences. Most men were already gone to work leaving the children, nursing mothers and few teenagers behind. The face of the area boys were not looking pleasant or friendly in anyway was the very word she used, and cap it all that their eyes were just like pool of blood, fear grip everybody in the community, this visit with threat cannot be ordinary, we must inform the Police suggested by a woman. Another woman offered another suggestion, let us call the head of the landlord committee to delegate men that own their source of livelihood to go and report the matter in the police station. They all agreed, all said was done, shortly after police patrol arrived and comb the area but no one was found, so they left leaving the DPO's mobile number for contact purpose. Things went back to normal shops selling and people were going about their usual daily business dealings. Suddenly from nowhere bottle began to fly in the air, youth, shops and workers were the first target. The act was nothing else but Human in-human she exclaimed. Men were brutally battered, marked with deep cut which left them with severe injuries, women too where not left out of this sorry experience as marks after one or more wipes from cutlass tattoos their skin. Not less than 35 severely injured and 40 blistered nursing mothers was remanded in the nearby community maternity home. The ordeal took more than an hour but unfortunate that no one remember to call the police, for the commotion happened so fast that phone were out of sight. Without wasting time, the community in multitude took to their heels and fled for their lifes. The police surface from nowhere but unable to make any arrest. The team leader in his word expressed his deep sympathy and promises the community that thorough investigation will be carried out and will surely bring the culprits to book. What a sad story and experience narrated by one of the tenants of Ajarogun community. All efforts to speak with the DPO to know the latest development about the incident was abortive.
